We don't live in Igloos anymore

Now that you know Inuit don't live in igloos anymore. We can now teach you  how to build a basic igloo, so that you can be the one to live in it.

The Igloovigaq was built used as a shelter in the 10 month long winter. Inuit did not live in one igloo for 10 months. They would move every so often to make sure the food supplies were close. Males were expected to know how to make an igloo for the family. Once a male was able to build an igloo he could marry.

The Ulu

The ulu was originally made for women due to their role in the family. The mother/wife would take care of cutting the blubber off the seal skin to use the blubber as oil for the quliq (stove). The ulu is most efficient at taking the blubber off the seal skin without making a hole in the skin.

Now a days the ulu is used for everything from cutting food to showing off the new unique and polished ulu.
